Cleanup efforts winding down in Taopi after last week’s tornado

Cleanup and recovery efforts are continuing in Taopi this week after the town was struck head-on by an EF-2 tornado last week.  KAUS News spoke with Amy Lammey, Mower County Emergency Director who stated that the cleanup efforts in the town are wrapping up…

Lammey went on to state that the town is in a good place in relation to the cleanup process and volunteers, and she added that the community of approximately 60 people has received a large amount of support from surrounding communities….

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz visited Taopi late last week to assess the damage and talk to tornado victims and city leaders, and Lammey stated that Mower County will be eligible for disaster assistance concerning public infrastructure in Taopi…

The LaCrosse, Wisconsin office of the National Weather Service determined that the EF2 tornado that impacted the town directly packed winds of up to 130 miles per hour, and they also determined that the tornado was on the ground for 7.3 miles.  Lammey is also asking for pictures to be shared to [email protected] for damage assessment, and for the latest information on the situation, including items that may or may not be needed in the recovery effort, you are invited to check out the Adams Area Ambulance, and/or the Taopi, Minnesota Facebook pages.  If you wish to make a monetary donation to the relief and recovery efforts in Taopi, you are invited to make your check payable to the Taopi Relief Fund, ℅ the United Farmers State Bank, P.O.
