Extra law enforcment will be on Minnesota roads heading into the 4th of July weekend

As we head into the long 4th of July weekend, extra law enforcement will be on Minnesota roads starting Thursday…

 

The Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office will be among the hundreds of law enforcement agencies from around the state participating in the extra enforcement period.  State Patrol Lieutenant Gordon Shank says they’ll also be on the lookout for speeders. Preliminary reports show 198 people have died on Minnesota roads so far in 2021 with 75 speed-related deaths. The extra enforcement runs through July 31st.
