Extra patrols on Minnesota roads looking for impaired drivers now through Labor Day

Beginning today through Labor Day, extra patrols are on Minnesota roads looking for impaired drivers.  Mike Hanson with the Office of Traffic Safety says Minnesota has made progress since the 1950s and ’60s…

The Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office will be among the hundreds of law enforcement agencies around the state participating in the campaign. Hanson says it’s essential to plan ahead for a safe ride home — not wait until judgment is impaired when people are leaving a party or other social event.  As of mid-August, more than 15-thousand D-W-I’s were reported in Minnesota — over 800 more than last year.
