Grand Meadow Superlarks girls’ basketball rolls by Spring Grove 66-21 Monday evening

The Grand Meadow Superlarks girls’ basketball team opened the 2022 portion of their schedule at home Monday evening versus Southeast Conference rival Spring Grove, and trailing 10-9 early in the first half, the Superlarks closed the half on a 20-2 run to lead 29-12 at the half on their way to a 66-21 victory.

Grand Meadow opened the second half on a 10-1 run to open up a 39-13 lead, and the Larks’ defense, tops in Section 1A with only 33.2 points per game given up thus far this season held the Lions without a field goal until the 4:32 mark of the second half, and they also forced 24 turnovers in the game as the Larks opened up a lead as large at 44 points on their way to the win.

Grand Meadow had four players in double figures, led by guard McKenna Hendrickson, who tallied 19 points, Kendyl Queensland added 17 points, Laruen Queensland chipped in 14 points, center River Landers scored 10 points, Rebecca Hoffman tallied four points and Aspen Kolling scored two points for the Superlarks, who moved to 5-1 in the Southeast Conference’s West Division and 9-2 overall with the win.

Grand Meadow returns to action at home Thursday night versus Pine Island in a non-conference matchup, with the varisty tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
