It was a matchup of state-ranked teams for the Section 1A girls basketball title at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium in Rochester Friday evening as the Grand Meadow Superlarks, the No. 2 seed in the tournament and the No. 7 team in the state in Class A in the final poll of the season from the Minnesota Basketball News took on No. 1 seed and No. 4 ranked Hayfield, the defending section champions in the tournament final.  The game was a rematch of the section title game from a season ago, and it was the Vikings using a 12-2 run to close out the first half to lead 34-16 at the halftime break on their way to a 51-32 victory.

Sophomore guard/forward Lauren Queensland led the Superlarks in scoring Friday night with 20 points, 14 of those in the first half, Rebecca Hoffman and Lexy Foster each tallied four points, Gracie Foster swished a 3-pointer for three points, and Kenydl Queensland scored one point.  Veteran forward Natalie Beaver led Hayfield in the winning effort with 17 points, and Chelsea Christopherson added 10.

A fantastic season for Grand Meadow comes to an end with a record of 27-3, including a 21-game winning streak.  With the win, their 12th in a row, the Vikings will head back to the State Class A tournament for a second straight season, and they will be in action in the quarterfinals Thursday at Maturi Pavillion on the University of Minnesota campus.
