Hayfield man sentenced to jail time, supervised probation on felony DWI and misdemeanor obstructing the legal process charges in Mower County District Court

A Hayfield man facing a felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court after a traffic stop in Mower County on January 17th of this year has been sentenced to jail time and supervised probation.

43-year old Dwight David Blanchard was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail and seven years of supervised probation for a felony charge of DWI, refusal to submit to a chemical test, breath or test refusal or failure.  Blanchard was given credit for four days already served, and Judge Jeffery Kritzer determined that Blanchard must report to jail on September 15th each year for seven years to serve 30 days.  A 54-month prison sentence was stayed for seven years if Blanchard complies with the 21 different conditions of his probation, and Blanchard was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail and a year of supervised probation for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process, interfering with a peace officer.  The 90-day jail sentence was stayed for one year if Blanchard complies with the terms of his probation, and he pleaded guilty to the two charges on June 10th.

A felony charge for DWI, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a gross misdemeanor for driving after cancellation, inimical to public safety, and a misdemeanor charge for 5th degree assault in the case against Blanchard were all dismissed with his guilty pleas.
