A semi driver from Illinois was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Freeborn County late Monday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2008 Volvo semi being driven by 28-year old Ivaylo Hristov Balabanov of Arlington Heights, Illinois took the off-ramp to County Road at 11:40 p.m. Monday evening when he lost control of the vehicle, which then tipped over.

Balabanov sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and he was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea for treatment.  The State Patrol indicated that the off-ramp was covered in snow and ice at the time of the accident, and they added that Balabanov was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
