Individuals for Austin Packers boys’ tennis team in action at Section 1AA tournament Tuesday

Two singles players and two doubles teams for the Austin Packers boys’ tennis team were in action at the Section 1AA Individual Tennis Tournament Tuesday, and Head Coach Jeff Anderson reported that one of those players became the first in almost a decade to advance to Day 2 of the tournament.
Max Larson and Joey Schammel were in action for the Packers Tuesday, and Larson was felled by No. 4 seed Trajan McBroom of Rochester John Marshall in the first round 6-4, 6-2.  Schammel earned the No. 2 seed and had a first round bye, and in his first match, he defeated third-seeded Prab Kaginele of Rochester Century in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, and 6-4 to become the first Packer in almost a decade to advance to the second day of the Section 1AA tournament.
In the doubles competition, Cole Hebrink and Owen Carroll were in action for Austin and fell to Phillip Dahlen and Nathan Moos of Rochester John Marshall in the first round 6-4, 6-2 and Cade Morrison and Michael Garry of the Packers were also defeated in the first round by Kian Rehfeld and Vijay Beerman of Rochester Century 6-0, 6-0.
Head Coach Jeff Anderson reported that Joey Schammel was named an All Big 9 Conference player and Cole Hebrink An All Big 9 Conference Honorable Mention, this week.
