Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team downs Rushford/Peterson 62-40 Friday night

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was in search of win number four in a row Friday night in Lyle versus the Trojans of Rushford/Peterson out of the Three Rivers Conference, and it was a pair of senior guards leading the way offensively as Buay Koak tallied 23 points and Jake Truckenmiller added six 3-point field goals for 18 points as the Athletics downed the Trojans 62-40.

Rushford/Peterson’s only lead of the game was 2-0 as LP jumped out to an 11-2 lead and pushed their lead to as large as 20 in the first half at 30-10, only to see the Trojans end the half on a 9-4 run to cut the lead to 34-19 at the halftime break.  The Athletics answered with a 16-7 run to open the second half to take a 48-26 lead, and they increased their lead to 21 a short time later at 50-29 on their way to the win.

Besides his 23 points, Koak added two rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots, Truckenmiller pulled in a team-high six rebounds to go with his 18 points, plus he added four assists and two steals, Landon Meyer chipped in eight points and two assists, Hunter Bauer and Dylan Christianson each tallied four points, Mac Nelson swished a 3-pointer for three points and Trey Anderson added two points in the win.

The Athletics are now 10-2 overall on the season, and Lyle/Pacelli returns to action Tuesday night at home versus Southland in the Southeast Conference, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
