Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team downs Schaeffer Academy 61-46 for 11th win in a row

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team, the No. 10 team in the state in the latest Class A poll from the Minnesota Basketball News hit the road to Rochester in search of win number 11 in a row Thursday evening versus the Lions of Schaeffer Academy in a Southeast Conference matchup, and Mac Nelson led three Athletics in double figures with 20 points, plus he added five rebounds and four assists as the Athletics downed the Lions 61-46.

Lyle/Pacelli outscored Schaeffer Academy 40-22 in the paint, and outrebounded the Lions 32-24 in Thursday night’s contest, and the Athletics led 37-28 at haltime, but they saw their lead trimmed to three at one point 45-42.  LP had a big time response, however, as they wound up closing the game on a 16-4 run to earn the victory.

Besides Nelson’s 20 points, Buay Koak tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and four blocked shots, Trey Anderson scored 10 points, plus he also pulled in five rebounds, dished out five assists and came away with a team-high four steals, forward Hunter Bauer chipped in seven points and eight rebounds, guard Jake Truckenmiller contributed six points, three rebounds, a team-high six assists and three steals and Dylan Christianson scored two points in the win Thursday night.

With the win, Lyle/Pacelli is now 17-2 overall on the season and 14-0 in the Southeast Conference.  The Athletics are right back into action tonight at home versus the Spring Grove Lions, ranked No. 11 in the state in the latest Class A poll with a record of 13-0 in the conference and 16-1 overall on the season, and you’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show from Lyle coming your way at 7:00 p.m., and the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.  A reminder that you can also listen online worldwide via our webpage at myaustinminnesota.com, and also on the I Heart Radio and radio.com apps.
