Lyle/Pacelli Athletics football team downed by Kingsland 42-22 Friday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics football team was on the road to Spring Valley Friday night in search of their fourth win in a row versus the Kingsland Knights, but it was junior running back Beau Wiersma registering touchdown runs of 50, 2, 9 and 6 yards in the first half as the Knights scored 28 second quarter points on their way to a 42-22 win.

Down 36-0 at the half, the Athletics got on the scoreboard with 5:50 left in the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run by Trey Anderson to cut the deficit to 36-8 after Hunter Bauer’s 2-point conversion run, and a 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Truckenmiller to Anderson with 9:06 left in the game made the score 42-14.  A 1-yard touchdown run by Bauer and a 2-point conversion pass from Truckenmiller to Anderson accountedfor the 42-22 final score.

Truckenmiller passing was 11 of 23 for 94 yards and a touchdown, and Hunter Bauer led LP in receiving with four catches for 62 yards.  Trey Anderson hauled in four passes for 29 yards and a touchdown, and he was also the leading ball carrier for the Athletics in the game with 15 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown.  Truckenmiller carried the ball nine times for 28 yards, and Hunter Bauer toted the pigskin nine times for 13 yards and a touchdown.

With the loss, Lyle/Pacelli is now 3-3 on the season, and the Athletics will play host to Grand Meadow for their regular-season home finale next Friday night, with kickoff in Lyle at 7:00 p.m.  that evening.
