Lyle/Pacelli boys’ basketball falls to Spring Grove 39-37 in OT Friday

The two division leaders in the Southeast Conference in boys’ basketball squared off Friday night in Spring Grove as the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics, first place in the West Division and winners of eight in a row took on the Lions, who came into the game in first in the East Division unbeaten in conference play at 14-0.  In a tense battle where every point was hard to come by, it was the Lions scoring the only two points of overtime as they edged the Athletics 39-37.

Guard Jake Truckenmiller led LP in scoring Friday night with 16 points, plus he added four rebounds, one assist and three steals, Buay Koak put up a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds,  two assists and three blocked shots and Mac Nelson was the only other Athletic to score in the defensive battle as he tallied nine points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal for the Athletics, who fell to 14-2 in the conference and 20-4 overall on the season with the loss.

LP will start a two-game homestand to close out the regular season Monday night versus the Triton Cobras in a non-conferene game, with tip-off at All Saints Arena scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
