An Israeli man has returned an ancient catapult stone to a national park where he stole the artifact when he visited as a child 15 years ago.
“The time has come to clear my conscience. It feels that the end of the world is near,” he said.
The stone most likely came from battles between residents of Jerusalem and Roman soldiers around the year 70 A.D.
He returned it through a middleman who agreed not to share his identity, so as far as we know he’s not looking at charges for the theft.
