Mankato man sentenced to jail time, supervised probation, fines and fees on felony assault and fleeing a peace officer charges in Mower County District Court

A Mankato man facing felony assault and fleeing a peace officer charges in Mower County District Court after an attempted traffic stop on May 17th of this year has been sentenced to jail time, supervised probation, plus fines and fees.

38-year old Nikolas Michael Hinton was sentenced Thursday to a staggered jail sentence of 180 days, five years of supervised probation and $2,160 in fines and fees for a felony charge of 3rd degree assault, substantial bodily harm.  An 18-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Hinton complies with the terms of his probation, and Hinton was also sentenced Thursday to one year of supervised probation for a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.  A 13-month prison sentence was stayed for one year if Hinton complies with the terms of his probation, and he was convicted on the two charges on June 29th after pleading guilty the same day.

Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Hinton will be able to serve the two sentences concurrently, and an additional felony charge for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, plus a misdemeanor charge for obstructing the legal process, resisting arrest in the case against Hinton were dismissed with his guilty plea.
