Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Austin to celebrate construction milestone on June 14

 At a special event on Monday, June 14th, Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin and Albet Lea will celebrate a significant milestone in the construction that has spanned both campuses over the past several years. Dr. Mark Ciota, CEO, MCHS-Austin and Albert Lea spoke with KAUS News before the event Monday and recapped the work that has been taking place at the two campuses, and what will be unveiled in Austin Monday…


Dr. Ciota went on to state that a lack of staffing at the two facilities was the main reason the decision was made to put the projects into motion four years ago…

Dr. Ciota stated that the projects will be a win-win situation for both MCHS staff and patients…

The milestone virtual celebration will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will include a ribbon-tying ceremony, along with remarks from several Mayo Clinic Health System and community leaders. Video tours of the new Family Birth Center, and Medical and Surgical inpatient units, on the Austin campus also will be shown during the virtual event.

To date, Mayo Clinic has invested more than $25 million in the facilities.  Due to COVID-19 precautions, in-person attendance at this indoor event is limited to a small number of invited guests.
