MDH records COVID-19 related death for third day in a row in Mower County; 30 additional cases recorded for cumulative total of 6,793

The Minnesota Department of Health reported Thursday that Mower County has recorded a COVID-19 related death for the third day in a row, its 45th overall in an individual 85-89 years of age, and they added that the county recorded 6,574 confirmed and 219 probable COVID-19 cases Thursday for a cumulative total of 6,793 since the onset of the pandemic, up 30 from Wednesday.

Olmsted County reported 19,309 cumulative cases Thursday, a jump of 158 from Wednesday, Steele County recorded 6,158 cumulative cases Thursday, a rise of 51 from Wednesday and Freeborn County confirmed 5,103 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, up 29 from Wednesday.  Dodge County now has 2,905 cumulative cases, up 28 from Wednesday and Fillmore County reported 2,670 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, a rise of 36 from Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 3,718 positive COVID-19 tests in the state Thursday for a cumulative total of 803,168, and they added that 32 additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the state from Wednesday to Thursday for a cumulative total of 8,793 since the onset of the pandemic.  A total of 41,931 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic, and 8,458 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
