According to new research out of Switzerland, men’s beards are more likely to be filled with germs and bacteria than dog fur.
In a study which sampled the beard hair of 18 men and the fur of 30 dogs, results found that the beard of every man sampled contained high levels of bacteria, whereas 23 of the 30 dog samples contained the same.
And almost half the men had bacteria in their beards that could make someone sick.
Professor Andreas Gutzeit, of Switzerland’s Hirslanden Clinic, said: “on the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean compared with bearded men.”
