Missouri man tried to shoot down a crop duster for flying too low
According to media reports, 62-year-old Donald Bates Jr., of Missouri walked out of his house last month and repeatedly flipped off the pilot of a crop dusting plane flying overhead.
Bates was angry about the plane flying so low and close to his house.
The pilot could see he was holding a shotgun in one hand. So he decided to leave the area and crop-dust a different farm.
But when he landed at an airport, he noticed fuel leaking from a bullet hole in the tank. The pilot later found another hole in the nose cone, so he reported it to police
Bates admitted he’d been holding a gun to intimidate the pilot, but claimed he never fired any shots.
A witness said they heard up to 15 shots though, and police arrested Bates.
He’s now facing attempted murder charges.
