Mower County records 46th COVID-19 related death Thursday; 21 additional cases also recorded Thursday for cumulative total of 6,928

The Minnesota Department of Health reported Thursday that Mower County has recorded its 46th COVID-19 related death in an individual 65-69 years of age, and they added that the county totaled 6,706 confirmed and 222 probable COVID-19 cases Thursday for a cumulative total of 6,928 since the onset of the pandemic, up 21 from Wednesday.  Health officials indicated that total positive cases for the duration of the pandemic, including reinfections, now total 836,787, and just over 798,600 people have now been determined as no longer needing isolation.

Olmsted County recorded 19,981 cumulative cases Thursday, a rise of 166 from Wednesday, Steele County reported 6,284 cumulative cases Thursday, up 14 from Wednesday and Freeborn County confirmed 5,223 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, up 26 from Wednesday.  Dodge County now has 3,092 cumulative cases, up 51 for a second straight day and Fillmore County recorded 2,746 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, up 24 from Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 5,123 positive COVID-19 tests in the state Thursday for a cumulative total of 827,658, and they added that 43 additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the state from Wednesday to Thursday for a cumulative total of 8,968 since the onset of the pandemic.  A total of 42,831 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic, and 8,626 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
