Mower County sees 2.2% rate of unemployment in October

While job growth continues around the state, so does wage growth. Oriane Casale (OR-ee-in  cuh-SAL) with the state Department of Employment and Economic Development:


Mower County saw a labor force of 20,295 workers in the month of October, with 19,858 of those workers employed and 437 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 2.2%, which was down from 2.5% in September.  In other county unemployment rates for October from around our KAUS listening area, Freeborn County also featured a 2.2% rate of unemployment for October, Fillmore County was at 1.8%, Dodge County was at 1.9%, Olmsted and Steele Counties each saw a 2.1% rate of unemployment in October and Waseca County was at 2.6%.  Casale says the average hourly wage for all private sectors rose 6.3 percent over the year and 8.7 percent since October 2019.
