NCAA Allows College Players to Earn Money
October 30, 2019 4:00PM CDT
The NCAA has made a big announcement: They are finally relaxing their rules to allow college athletes the opportunity to “benefit” from the use of their name, image, and likeness. Sooo… endorsements?
At this point, it’s not really clear how big this is, because no new rules have been drafted yet.
The NCAA said the athletes will be able to be compensated, “in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.”
Buuuuuuut the collegiate model doesn’t allow athletes to get paid. So, basically nobody knows what the plan is.
The NCAA said it wants the new rules to be in place by early 2021.
