NWS reminds everyone to stay aware heading into severe storm season

Stay sky aware and alert aware. That is the message from the National Weather Service as we head deeper into the severe weather season. Todd Krause with the National Weather Service says they will get the info to people in any way possible ahead of a severe event.

The last two tornadoes reported in Mower County both occurred on the afternoon of June 17th, 2009, when a F2 tornado caused one injury and damage on the north and northeast side of the city of Austin, and a brief F0 tornado was spotted near Adams the same afternoon by storm spotters from the LeRoy Fire Department that caused approximately $1,000 in damage.  Krause says to make sure you can receive alerts in multiple ways, to lessen the change you miss crucial information.
