Oronoco man sentenced to jail time, supervised probation on drug possession and theft charges in Mower County District Court

An Oronoco man facing drug possession and theft charges in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place on February 12th has been sentenced to jail time and supervised probation.

36-year old Jacob Lewis Schutz was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 39 days in jail and three years of supervised probation for a felony 5th degree drug possession charge.  Schutz was given credit for 39 days already served, and he was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to two years of supervised probation for a gross misdemeanor charge of theft, taking, using or transferring movable property without consent.  A one-year jail sentence was stayed for two years if Schutz complies with the terms of his probation, and Schutz was granted a stay of imposition on both charges where the defendant pleads guilty to a felony-level offense.  If he or she successfully completes their probation, the conviction will be deemed a misdemeanor.

Schutz pleaded guilty to both charges on June 17th, and Judge Jeffery Kritzer determined that Schutz will be allowed to serve the two sentences concurrently.
