Pacelli Catholic Schools to close Thursday and Friday due to steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the district

Pacelli Catholic Schools of Austin have announced that due to a steep rise in COVID-19 cases following the Christmas break, the schools will be closed Thursday, January 6th and Friday, January 7th.

Superintendent Kane Malo stated in a letter to parents and guardians in the district that according to the county COVID-19 tracker, Mower County is currently listed as a high transmission area, and he added that the district currently has seven confirmed positive cases, with five families awaiting testing and more than 30 students who are quarantining as a result of those positive cases.  Because of that, Malo stated that the decision was made to close the school for Thursday and Friday, and he added that they will meet as a school team to address the distinct’s existing COVID preparedness plan for its students.

Superintendent Malo went on to state in the letter that they expect to have updated information for families in the district’s weekly announcements on Friday.
