Money shouldn’t be your only motivation to work (or else you’ll be miserable at your job, even if well paid), but they are living in some imaginary utopian world if they believe you’d be willing to work without proper compensation.

Employer: “So why are you leaving this position?”
Me at my exit interview: “I can’t afford rent with my pay here and I got a better paying offer somewhere else.”
Employer: “So what I’m hearing is…there wasn’t a ping-pong table in the break room?”

I’m still not clear why they’re obsessed with ping pong tables. At least a pool table is cool.
