Public information meeting for I-90/4th St. Interchange project in Austin to be held Wednesday evening

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be holding a public information meeting for the I-90 and 4th Street Interchange project in Austin Wednesday evening.  KAUS News spoke with Mike Dougherty, Community Relations Coordinator with MnDOT District 6 in Rochester who stated that MnDOT is inviting the public to attend the public meeting at Centennial Park in Austin Wednesday evening, July 21st from 5-7 p.m. to hear updates, learn about conceptual design options and to provide input for the I-90 and 4th Street Interchange project….


The 4th Street bridge will be replaced,and the interchange reconstructed to improve operations, safety and pedestrian and bicycle movements.  MnDOT has developed three design options for the interchange, each with unique characteristics, and they are requesting input from the public on important factors to include in the interchange design.  Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2023, and officials with MnDOT added that the project also includes replacement of the I-90 Cedar River bridges.
