Rochester man sentenced to prison time on felony drug possession charge in Mower County District Court

A Rochester man who was found to be in possession of 42 vacuum sealed bags of marijuana totaling approximately 41.9 pounds of the drug, 1.15 grams of cocaine and nearly $2,300 in cash after being detained by authorities in the city of Dexter early on the morning of October 9th, 2020 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

47-year old Jeffery James Lawstuen was convicted and sentenced Wednesday to 33 months in prison for a felony charge of 3rd degree drugs, possession of 10 kilos or more of marijuana.  Lawstuen first pleaded guilty to the charge in November of 2021 after initially pleading not guilty in October of 2020, and two other felony charges for 2nd degree drugs, sale of 10 kilos or more of marijuana or tetrahydrocannabinols, and for 5th degree drug possession in the case were dismissed with Lawstuen’s guilty plea.
