Rosemount man killed in accident involving two semis on I-35 in Freeborn County Monday evening

A Rosemount man was killed in an accident involving two semis on southbound Interstate 35 in Freeborn County Monday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that both a 2016 Freightliner semi being driven by 34-year old Korane Abdi Mohamud of Minneapolis and a 2020 Kenworth semi being driven by 62-year old Bradley Dean Oachs of Rosemount were traveling southbound on Interstate 35 at approximately 5:56 p.m. Monday evening when the semi being driven by Mohamud jackknifed on the snowy and icy road and Oachs’s semi then collided with the Freightliner’s trailer near milepost 15.

Oachs was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea, where he was pronounced dead.  Both Mohamud and a passenger in his semi, 37-year old Mahamed Mahamoud of Lexington, Nebraska were uninjured, and the State Patrol reported that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.

The Clarks Grove Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance both assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Monday evening.
