Spring Valley man injured in two-vehicle accident in Mower County Monday afternoon

A Spring Valley man was injured in a collision between a semi and a car on Highway 56 near Brownsdale in Mower County Monday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the accident occurred at 1:20 p.m. Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 56 and County Road 2 near Brownsdale.  72-year old Michael Orwin Otterness of Spring Valley, was eastbound on County Road 2 when his 1985 Ford Mustang collided with a 2019 Peterbuilt semi driven by 25-year old Parker Reed Brumm of Rockford, Iowa, which was northbound on Highway 56 at the time of the accident.  

The State Patrol reported that Otterness suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin for treatment. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Brownsdale Fire Department assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
