STAND students from Austin Public Schools raise funds to purchase supplies to create several thousand meals to be sent to refugees in Poland

STAND (Students Taking A New Direction) students from Austin Public Schools recently raised $1,782 to purchase the supplies to create over 7000 meals which will be sent to the refugees in Poland. The students and advisors organized the event that required over 30 volunteers to assemble the meals. The meals were assembled at Ellis Middle School on Friday May 6th.

The event was made possible because of a partnership with the Austin group, Real Hope for the Hungry. Real Hope for the hungry provided all the logistics to make sure these meals arrive where they are needed. Real Hope for the Hungry is a non-profit humanitarian food aid organization with a mission to provide fully nutritious meals to under-nourished and starving children locally in the US, and around the world. This special mission was organized because of the urgent need in Poland.

Several residents, Rotary and the Noon Lions contributed to the project. In addition, a generous anonymous donor matched dollar-for-dollar the funds needed to make the project possible.
