Teenager turns himself into authorities concerning recent vandalism in city of Austin

A teenager has turned himself into authorities concerning recent instances of vandalism in the city of Austin.

The Austin Police Department reported that a 17-year-old male turned himself in at the Mower County Law Enforcement Center and admitted to spray painting approximately 15 businesses and public properties in the city.

The teen reportedly told authorities that the vandalism occurred over the course of an hour on the evening of June 6th, and that the graffiti included the word “BOZO”, the number “666” and a pentagram in black and silver spray paint.

Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon stated that the teen turned himself in after seeing a Facebook post concerning the vandalism and told authorities that he felt badly about it .  The teenager went on to tell authorities that the properties he spray painted included the old YMCA building, Bendixsen Jewelry, a property near the Paramount Theater and International Word Fellowship Church. The cost of removing the graffiti is still being assessed and Clennon stated that once complete, all reports related to the case will be forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s Office for appropriate charges.
