Three people injured in two-vehicle accident near Grand Meadow Sunday morning

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Highway 16 near Grand Meadow late Sunday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2016 Ford Fusion being driven by 85-year old Leland Warner Gustafson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa was traveling southbound on Highway 63 while a 2014 Chevy Silverado being driven by 70-year old Bruce Anthony McAlpine of Dayton was westbound on Highway 16.  The State Patrol reported that the two vehicles collided at the intersection of the two roads.

Leland Gustafson, a passenger in his vehicle, 82-year old Diane Elise Gustafson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a passenger in McAlpine’s vehicle, 67-year old Nancy Bernice McAlpine of Dayton all suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.  Bruce McAlpine was uninjured, and the State Patrol indicated that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the Grand Meadow Fire Department, Grand Meadow Ambulance and Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene late Sunday morning.
