Twins split double-header with Tigers

The Twins and Tigers each won a game in their day-night doubleheader at Comerica Park on Tuesday.

In the first game, Gary Sanchez went deep and Max Kepler drove in three runs as the Twins won 8-2. Devin Smeltzer earned his second win after giving up just two runs in six-and-two-thirds innings. Trevor Larnach had a two-run double.

The Tigers pitching fared much better in game two, as the staff allowed just three hits in a 4-0 victory. Wily Peralta earned his second win after tossing two scoreless innings out of the pen, and former Twin Jonathan Schoop drove in all four of Detroit’s runs.

The Tigers have won five of their last seven games, improving to 19-30 on the year. Cole Sands got the loss for Minnesota after allowing four runs in four innings.

The Twins have dropped two of three and sit at 30-21 on the season.

Game four of the five-game series is tonight 6:10 PM.
