Twins trade for four players at trade deadline

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins brought in four new players at the Major League Baseball trade deadline yesterday.

The Twins bolstered their bullpen by adding All-Star closer Jorge Lopez from Baltimore, and then acquired former Rookie of the Year Michael Fulmer from Detroit. Minnesota sent four prospects including Yennier Cano and Cade Povich to the O’s, and Sawyer Gipson-Long was sent to the Tigers.

The Twins also traded for starting pitcher Tyler Mahle from the Reds in exchange for three of their top 25 prospects.

Additionally, Minnesota sent pitcher Ian Hamilton to the Guardians in order to get back-up catcher Sandy Leon.

In other club news, infielder Jose Miranda was named as the Rookie of the Month for July yesterday afternoon.
