U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar tours Hormel Institute

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar made a sixth stop during her legislative career at the Hormel Institute in Austin Thursday.  Senator Klobuchar stated that she keeps stopping back at the Institute for two reasons, one being the work that goes on every day to fight cancer, and also to receive an update concerning the latest activities taking place at the facility…

Klobuchar went on to praise the work of the Hormel Foundation in the Austin community…

Other dignitaries on hand at the Institute Thursday for Senator Klobuchar’s visit included Austin Mayor Steve King, Bonnie Rietz, Vice Chair of the Hormel Foundation, Dr. Robert Clarke, Executive Director of the Hormel Institute, Dr. Leena Hilakivi-Clarke and Dr. Shujun Liu, Assistant Directors of the Institute, Elizabeth Fedie, Chief of Staff for the Institute and John Garry from the Development Corporation of Austin.  Senator Kloubuchar was given a tour of the facility, which included a stop at the CryoEM electron microscope, a look at Science Park housing and a walk through the recently added clinical trials hall.
