Five years ago this week, on October 1, 2017, Jason Aldean was on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas when shots rang out.
Initially, nobody (including Jason) knew what the sound was.
Over 1,000 shots would be fired by a 64-year-old gunman from the Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 60 people and wounding at least 413.
It was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. History.
