Nashville pastor Ezekiel Ndikumana did more than just deliver a sermon on Sunday.

Ndikumana was leading his congregation in prayer when a man pointed a gun at the congregation, demanding that everyone in the church stand up.

Ndikumana tackled the man to the ground, and managed to grab the gun away.

“He wanted to kill, that’s what first came to my mind,” Ndikumana said in a media interview through a translator. “I would say that God used me”.

Video captured on a church surveillance camera shows the incident from start to finish. In the footage, an armed gunman emerges from a seat near the front of the church and reveals a weapon to the stunned congregation. Pastor Ndikumana can be seen moving behind the gunman before tackling and disarming him, with assistance from others.

The gunman, Dezire Baganda, 26, was arrested and is facing 15 counts of aggravated assault, according to FOX 13 in Nashville.
