The Austin Bruins were looking for a split of their weekend series with the Minot Minotauros at Riverside Arena Saturday evening, and veteran goaltender Trent Wiemken turned aside all 26 shots he faced to lead the Bruins to a 2-0 victory.

After a scoreless first period, Will Diamond’s second goal of the season, with an assist to Damon Furseth, his fourth on the power play at 9:33 of the second period made the score 1-0 Austin, and the only other goal of the game was scored by Parker Anderson, his second of the season with an assist to Austin Salani, his eighth, into an empty net at 19:36 of the third period to account for the 2-0 final.

Wiemken was the star of the game for the Bruins in turning away all  26 shots he faced, and Minot goalie James Norton faced 27 shots and made 25 saves to take the loss between the pipes Saturday evening.  It was a penalty-filled affair at Riverside Arena Saturday evening, as the Bruins were whistled for six penalties for 12 minutes, while the Minotauros were called for nine penalties totaling 29 minutes.  Austin was 1 for 8 on the power play, while Minot was 0 for 5.

With the win, the Bruins are 10-3-1-0 on the season, and they move back into first place in the Central Division with 21 points.  The Minotauros are now 9-3-1-0 on the season, good for 19 points and second place in the division behind Austin.

The Bruins are back in action at Riverside Arena next Friday and Saturday night as they play host to the Bismark Bobcats, with face-off each night at 7:05 p.m.
