Austin Bruins fall to Minot Minotauros 5-0 Saturday evening
Coming off a big 3-2 win over the 1st place Minot Minotauros Friday night, the Austin Bruins were in search of a sweep of the Minotauros in their NAHL Central Division series at Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena in Minot Saturday evening, but Minotauros goaltender Brady James turned away all 24 shots he faced, and five different Minot players scored in a 5-0 shutout win for the home team.
Both teams tallied 24 shots on net, with Austin netminder Nick Kurtiak making 19 saves, and a big factor in Minot’s win was seven penalties called on the Bruins for 30 minutes, which led to three power-play goals for the Minotauros, while the ‘Tauros were called for five penalties for 10 minutes.
With the weekend split, the Bruins are now 19-17-1-1-1 on the season for 40 points and fifth place in the division, four points behind fourth-place St. Cloud. Austin will be back in action at Riverside Arena Friday night versus the Aberdeen Wings, with game one of the weekend series facing off at 7:05 p.m.
