An Austin man facing six different charges in Mower County District Court after an incident at the Twin Towers Apartments in Austin on August 4th, 2020 where he allegedly entered the apartment of an elderly woman, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her to the floor and told her she was being taken hostage is back in custody after failing to appear for a court hearing in September of 2021.

24-year-old Jordan Tashawn Travis pleaded not guilty on August 20th, 2020 to felony charges of 1st degree burglary, assault a person in a building or on property, and also to a charge of kidnapping, hold for ransom, reward, or as a shield or hostage.  Travis also pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of 1st degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, and he also pleaded not guilty to gross misdemeanor charges of 4th degree assault on a peace officer, and for obstructing the legal process, resisting arrest.  Travis also pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of 5th degree assault, with all of the charges stemming from the August 4th, 2020 incident.

Judge Jeffery Kritzer issued a warrant for Travis’s arrest after he failed to appear for a hearing in the case on September 3rd, 2021, and the warrant was served Wednesday morning.  In a hearing in Mower County District Court  late Wednesday morning, Judge Natalie Martinez set unconditional bail for Travis at $150,000.  A pretrial hearing for Travis in Mower County District Court has been scheduled for November 17th, and a jury trial has been scheduled for November 27th.
