Austin man pleads guilty to felony burglary, gross misdemeanor assault on a peace officer charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man facing six different charges in Mower County District Court after an incident at the Twin Towers Apartments in Austin on August 4th, 2020 where he entered the apartment of an elderly woman, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her to the floor and told her she was being taken hostage has pleaded guilty.  

24-year-old Jordan Tashawn Travis originally pleaded not guilty on August 20th, 2020 to felony charges of 1st degree burglary, assault a person in a building or on property, and also to a charge of kidnapping, hold for ransom, reward, or as a shield or hostage.  Travis also pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of 1st degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, and he also pleaded not guilty to gross misdemeanor charges of 4th degree assault on a peace officer, and for obstructing the legal process, resisting arrest.  Travis also pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of 5th degree assault, with all of the charges stemming from the August 4th, 2020 incident.

During a hearing Tuesday, Travis pleaded guilty to the felony 1st degree burglary, assault a person in a building or on property charge, and he also pleaded guilty to the gross misdemeanor charge of 4th degree assault on a peace officer.  Sentencing for Travis in Mower County District Court has been scheduled for February 29th.
