The Austin Packers boys basketball team went on the road to take on the No. 2 team in the state in the latest Class AAA poll, the Mankato East Cougars in a Big 9 Conference matchup Friday evening, and 6’7″ senior Carson Schweim led four Cougars in double figures in scoring with 27 points in a 91-58 East win.

The Cougars were a blistering 19 for 27 from 2-point field goal range for the game for 70.4%, plus they drained 15 3-pointers in 35 attempts for 42.9%, and leading the way in scoring for Austin Friday night was Peyton Ransom with 15 points, Mikah Christopherson drained four of the squad’s 10 3-pointers for 12 points, Isaac Osgood swished three 3’s on his way to 11 points, Banyaan Omot totaled six points, Tate Hebrink tallied five points, Boden Bergstrom scored three points, and Jackson Clausman, Dakota Retterath, and J’Dan Stevens all scored two points apiece.

The Packers saw a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss, which puts them at 5-9 overall on the season, and 4-6 in the Big 9 Conference.  Austin returns to action at home Tuesday night versus the Rochester Century Panthers, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
