Austin Packers boys golf team second in Big 9 triangular in Rochester Monday
The Austin Packers boys golf team traveled to Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester Monday to battle not only high winds and tough conditons, but also Rochester Mayo and Rochester Century in a Big 9 Conference triangular, and it was the Packers taking second place with a team total of 336, 17 strokes behind the first-place Mayo Spartans, who fired a team total of 319, and four strokes ahead of the third-place Century Panthers, who totaled a team score of 340.
Junior Carter Hovelsrud carded the low round of the day for Austin with an 82, fellow junior Cale Tupy fired an 84, sophomores Isaac Anderson and Elijah Krueger both finished with rounds of 85, senior Collin Berg totaled a 94, and senior Izaac Erickson came into the clubhouse with a round of 95.
The Packers will return to action Wednesday in a Big 9 Conference meet at the Mankato Golf Club, with tee-off scheduled for 9:30 a.m. that morning.
