Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team downs Red Wing 97-86 Thursday evening
The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team kicked off the 2024 portion of their schedule with a Big 9 Conference dual meet with Red Wing at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening, and it was the Packers coming away with a 97-86 win.
High finishers in the win for Austin included the team’s 200 Medley Relay team of Brent Dahl, Noah Holt, Lucas Meyers and Carter Holt, as they were first Thursday evening with a time of 1:53.73, Hunter Peters took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.37, while teammate Simon Pischke was third with a time of 2:20.28, and Brent Dahl took first for the Packers in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:03.36, and teammate Zach Evenson was third with a time of 2:24.66.
Carter Holt swam to a third-place finish in the 50 Freestyle for Austin Thursday night with a time of 24.42 seconds, Riley Ferguson was second in the 1-meter diving competition with a total of 184.60 points, and Lucas Meyers was second in the 100 Butterfly with a final time of 1:01.41. Zach Evenson and Carter Holt were first and third, respectively, in the 100 Freestyle with times of 52.58 seconds and 56.12 seconds, and Brent Dahl and Noah Holt swept the top two spots in the 500 Freestyle with times of 5:18.74 and 6:21.29. Austin’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Zach Evenson, Lucas Meyers, Carter Holt and Brent Dahl took first Thursday night with at time of 1:37.44, Meyers was first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:05.97, while teammate Zach Voogd was third with an effort of 1:20.77, Hunter Peters took first in the 100 Breaststroke with a final time of 1:07.54, and Austin’s 400 Freestyle Relay team of Olin Burke, Tito Blake Barona, Kael Purkapile and Simon Pischke were second Thursday evening with a time of 4:47.41.
The Packers are back in action at home next Thursday, January 11th versus Faribault in another Big 9 Conference dual meet, with the action scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
