Austin Packers girls basketball team wins fifth in a row 53-44 at Winona Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls basketball team was in search of win number five in a row in Winona Tuesday evening versus the Winhawks in a Big 9 Conference and Section 1AAA matchup, and the Packers were able to give Head Coach Eric Zoske his 100th career win at Austin High School in a 53-44 victory.

Austin was 20 for 57 overall from the field in the game for 35%, including 16 for 36 from 2-point range and 4 for 21 from beyond the 3-point arc, and their defense, which is giving up only 48.5 points per game held Winona below that average Tuesday night.  The Packers were also 9 for 12 from the free-throw line, and Austin saw Olivia Walsh, Ajiem Agwa and Cassidy Shute all score 16 points apiece to lead the way offensively, with Walsh adding 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double, plus one assist, two steals and two blocked shots, Agwa pulled in six rebounds to go with her 16 points, plus she added two assists, a team-high four steals and a blocked shot, Shute tallied eight rebounds, two assists and three steals to go with her 16 points, Quinn Osgood chipped in three points and two rebounds, Marissa Shute scored two points, plus she tallied three rebounds and one assist, Marie Tolbert contributed seven rebounds, one assist and three steals and Kristen Nielsen added one assist in the win Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Packers are now 8-2 overall and 7-1 in the Big 9 Conference, and Austin returns to action Friday night at Ove Berven Gym versus conference leader Rochester Mayo, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m. that evening.  You’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show getting underway at 7:15 p.m. Friday evening, plus you can also listen to the game worldwide via our webpage at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio and radio.com apps.
