Austin Packers girls’ basketball upends Albert Lea 63-46 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls’ basketball team, unbeaten on the season and the No. 2 team in the state in the last Class AAA poll played host to rival Albert Lea at Ove Berven Gym Tuesday evening, and Cassidy Shute swished three 3-point field goals on her way to 20 points to help the Packers pull away in the second half to win 63-46.

The Packers pulled away in the second half after leading by five at the half 24-19, and besides Shute’s 20 points, Reana Schmitt was also in double figures with 13 points, Hope Dudycha and Olivia Walsh each added eight points, Emma Dudycha chipped in six points, Ruby Kvam tallied five points and Ajiem Agwa contributed three points for the Packers, who moved to 7-0 in the conference and 9-0 overall on the season with the win.

Austin returns to action Thursday night at Northfield versus the Raiders, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
