Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team falls to Northfield 107-79 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team played host to Northfield in a Big 9 Conference dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool Tuesday evening, and in a meet that saw several close finishes, the Raiders were able to register a 107-79 win.

High finishers for Austin included the 200 medley relay team of Olivia Walsh, Kaylee Butts, Abby Boysen and Alivia Hemry, who took second with a time of 2:03.94, eighth-grader Gracie Greenman was first for the Packers in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:08.63, and Kaylee Butts was third for Austin in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:38.94.

Olivia Walsh claimed first place for the Packers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26 seconds flat, just ahead of Northfield’s Nora Kortuem in second with a time of 26.64, and Austin’s 1-meter diving performed well yet again Tuesday evening as Reese Norton was first with a total score of 226.10, teammate Alayna Kennedy was second with a score of 224.95 and Rachel Engelstad was third for the Packers with a score of 189.55.  Walsh also took first for Austin in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.53, and Alivia Hemry and Abbie Boysen were second and third, respectively, in the 100 freestyle with times of 59.32 and 59.76 seconds.

Gracie Greenman was second for Austin in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:40.23, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Olivia Walsh, Alivia Hemry, Kaylee Butts and Gracie Greenman took first with a time of 1:48.03, just edging out second-place Northfield, who finished with a time of 1:48.46.  Abbie Boysen finished third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:13.11, and Kaylee Butts was third in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:20.68.  Austin’s 400 freestyle relay team of Abbie Boysen, Gracie Greenman, Addison Tobak and Anna Kossman were second Tuesday evening with a time of 4:11.34.

The Packers return to action Saturday afternoon at home as they will play host to an 8-team invitational also involving Faribault, Red Wing, Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall, Rochester Mayo, Tri-City United and Winona, with the action starting at Bud Higgins Pool at 12:00 p.m.
