Austin Packers girls’ tennis falls at home to Winona Tuesday 7-0

The Austin Packers girls’ tennis team played host to Big 9 Conference foe Winona in their home opener Tuesday at the Wescott Athletic Complex, and it was the Winhawks coming away with a 7-0 sweep for the win.

All of the wins for Winona were in straight sets, with the exception of first doubles where Samantha Krueger and Emma Haugen of Austin took the first set with Marissa McNally and Bridgette Klonecki of Winona 6-4, but McNally and Klonecki rebounded to take the next two sets 6-1 and 10-4 in the deciding third set.

The Packers are back into action on Friday as they travel to Mankato to meet the East Cougars, with the varsity action set to start at 4:45 p.m.
