Austin Packers girls tennis team nipped by Northfield 4-3 Thursday

The Austin Packers girls tennis team took to the road Thursday for a Big 9 Conference match with Northfield, and it was the Raiders edging the Packers by a score of 4-3.
Picking up wins for Austin Thursday were Gracie Schmitt at No. 1 singles, who was down 1-5 to Cora McBroom of the Raiders in the first set, but Schmitt rallied to win twelve straight games to win her match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0, and Ella Nack came back from a set down to win in three for the Packers by scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 6-4. Also earning a win for the Packers Thursday was the No. 2 doubles team of Seanna Kubas and Jenna Hetzel, as they defeated Kate LaCanne and Katie Nesseth of Northfield in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Austin returns to action in a triagular at United South Central Saturday versus the host Rebels and Worthington, with the action scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
