The Austin Packers and Albert Lea Tigers renewed the I-90 rivalry in Big 9 Conference volleyball at Packer Gym Thursday night, and it was the Packers earning their fourth win in a row by downing the Tigers in a 3-0 sweep 25-23, 25-14 and 25-16.
The Packers were led offensively by Kathryn Crouch, who tallied seven kills, eight digs, two set assists and one ace serve, Aggie McKichan contributed six kills, three digs defensively and two ace blocks, Ava Denzer tallied five kills, Isabella Bolster put up a stat line of four kills, three digs, and four ace blocks, which was tops for the club Thursday night, Alia Retterath led the Packers in set assists Thursday night with 15, plus she added four kills and three digs, Nora Sand added three kills, one dig and one ace block, Quinn Osgood tallied two kills, one set assist, eight digs and three ace serves, Haleigh Holman chipped in one kill, one dig and 12 set assists, and Kristen Neilsen put up two set assists, plus she led Austin in digs Thursday night with 15, and also in ace serves with four.
With the win, Austin is now 7-5 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Big 9 Conference, and the Packers are back into action at the Jackson County Central Invitational Saturday, with the action scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
